Kai McPhee is a 23 year old black queer artist based in New York City, who originates from Baltimore, MD. Their work explores themes of identity & memory through fashion & beauty, with using tools such as styling, creative direction, modeling, and photography. Another tool that they're familiar with is the mic. From interviews on the busy streets of New York City to conversering with Pharrell himself, Kai is deeply interested in connecting with others through communication. Of course they're ruled by Mercury!
A fashion designer of over 5 years, Kai prioritizes sustainability by primarily working with preexisting materials to create their works of art.
In the future, Kai is looking forward to expanding their practice through "The Kainary" --an amalgamation of their imagination made tangible through styling, creative direction, and transformation. Through their evolution of work, they have hopes of continuing the path of creating art in devotion to one's self.
